POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Counselor
Primary function: Responsible for all duties and functions required to maintain an efficient school counseling office.
Major responsibilities:
- Maintain all data necessary to provide accurate demographic and educational records for each student.
- Check new student packets for required information, assign ID numbers, and verify data into eSchool.
- Request previous records on new students and enter transcripts into eSchool when received.
- Fill student, parent, and teacher requests for schedules, report cards, transcripts, health records, or any other information maintained in student permanent records.
- Process End of Course and ACTAAP testing materials, including mailing results home and filing copy of results in permanent record file of each student.
- Process testing information for students.
- Request and collect homework for homebound and absentee students according to handbook policy.
- Input additions and corrections to student information in eSchool, including demographics, report cards, and transcripts.
- Maintain updated list of scholarship candidates.
- Assist students with ACT testing registration and file ACT results in permanent record files.
- Assist students, teachers, and counselors with concurrent credit registration and records.
- Schedule college/military recruiters for on-campus visits.
- Post and assist student with scholarship/financial aid information.
- Assist college-bound students with information required by colleges (transcripts, health records, ACT & SAT scores, letters of recommendation).
- Copy and mail newsletters
- Arrange all aspects of the senior scholarship assembly, maintain on-going list of monetary awards to students to be reported during the assembly, to administration, and to the Press.
- Assist in all aspects of preparing for the high school graduation ceremony.
- Assist in creating and maintaining CAPS folders for all students.
- Assist in preparation of local and state reports.
- To supervise the Parent Involvement program.
- Report to and perform other school related secretarial duties as assigned by building administrators or superintendent.
